Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
ISAIAH 43:19
Hello Friend,
How are you doing? January flew past in a blur (Happy New Year by the way!) and somehow, we’re already in the middle of February. As I’m writing this post, rain is pelting the windows and the sky is overcast and grey. Our miracle pot of daffodils that lay dormant for many years, now bursts with shoots every February without fail. I’m expectant for Spring with all it’s colour and vibrancy. It always makes me think of this verse in Isaiah because a ‘new thing’ is happening in the earth: bulbs that have laid dormant for the past year are springing to life again; trees have buds preparing to blossom and put on their spring clothes; fresh, green shoots are appearing on roadsides and in gardens.
It shall spring forth and we will see it.
But what if you’re looking for a new thing to spring forth in you? In your life/body/relationships?
Behold, the former things are come to pass and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
ISAIAH 42:9
What has happened has happened. Stories of time machines and visiting different timelines resonate with us because we want to go back and do things differently. Hindsight has given us new clarity and we wish things could be changed.
Yet God says not only that He is declaring new things but He will tell us what they are before they happen.
This is not just reserved for the prophets amongst us. It’s for all who walk closely with the Lord.
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye.
PSALM 32:8
I have had dreams showing me that ‘new thing’ but in all honesty, I haven’t remained close to God consistently. Life has thrown some curves in the road and even though I will always encourage others to get up, to keep going, it’s somehow harder to encourage myself.
God shows us time and again that we don’t have to have the answers. He said He will instruct us and teach us. The way we will get to that new season is by following His guidance and not our own.
I like how the Amplified puts it: ‘I will counsel you [who are willing to learn] with My eye upon you.’
Are you willing to learn from Him? The One who knows all things; the One who sees the bumps in the road ahead and can steer you through it all? Are you willing to give Him control and follow His instruction and teaching?
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of looking back at the former things. The past can’t be changed.
I’m stepping into my season of newness.
As the earth springs forth with new life, let a new fire, new anointing, newness of life spring forth in me.
This is my prayer for you also.
Love and blessings xx
