Amazing Love

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:

1 JOHN CH.3:1a

Happy Palm Sunday!

I think about this day and how joyous it must have been to behold the King of Kings riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. The people celebrated and welcomed Him in, throwing palm leaves at His feet.

It was the beginning of a week that would change everything.

At church today, we read from John chapter 18. This verse jumped out at me:

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

JOHN CH.18:4

I immediately had an image of Jesus, the Son of God – all-knowing. Of course, I knew that before but the words struck my heart:

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him.

He knew how many times He would be struck. He knew how His flesh would be torn and mangled. Jesus knew the excruciating, unspeakable death He was about to suffer and still – He went forth.

Jesus said ‘Let’s go. Let’s do this.’

When Peter cut off the high priest’s servant’s ear, Jesus said:

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He shall presently give Me more than twelve legions of angels?

But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

MATTHEW CH.26:53-54

Jesus could have refused. He could have shown Who He was in a very different way but then the scriptures, the prophecies would not have been fulfilled.

And we wouldn’t know the depths of His love for us.

Why did Jesus step forward towards the pain, suffering, rejection, humiliation and death?

For me.

For you.

For the entire world.

He loved us so much that He was willing to go through it all so that we could become children of God, citizens of heaven, seated in heavenly places with Him.

At the moment, I’m looking for work and financially, it’s difficult. But when I read John 18:4 today, it was a reminder that no matter whether I’m up or down; whether my bank account is full or empty – The LORD is worthy of ALL the praise.

He made an unspeakable sacrifice for me. I will praise Him regardless of how things look, whether my situation changes or not – because He is worthy of it all.

I pray that you will receive a revelation of God’s overwhelming love for you, for mankind today and all throughout Passion Week.

All the love and blessings
