The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth His handiwork.
PSALM 19:1
Hey there,
How’s things? I hope you’re well.
Dropping my son off for school today, I saw the first signs of Spring and I can’t tell you how happy it made me. My children know that seeing those first shoots of daffodils is enough to bring a smile to my face – even better if they bring me a bunch to have at home 😊
The buds of Magnolia blossom (my fave!) are preparing to open out in all their glory and hints of cherry blossom are appearing on trees all over the place. I am generally in awe of the beauty of God’s creation but springtime is just so pretty!
It’s the little pops of colour springing up everywhere, bursting through the grey and telling us winter is drawing back, fading away. Spring means my duvet-coat can be rested for a while and the raincoat comes out instead.
Aah. Rain. Not my favourite part of spring BUT I love how fresh and green the grass looks after the rain; how the flowers lift their heads and drink it all in.
Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.
ZECHARIAH CH. 10:1
I try to remember this verse when it’s cold and the rain is beating against the windshield of my car, wipers going back and forth furiously; or when I have to walk in it carrying shopping and the rain pelts against my glasses, obscuring my vision.
‘Thank You for these showers of blessings, LORD.’ 😊 But with rain there is a chance of rainbows (another thing I love…I told you – I just love God’s creation!). While rainbows remind us of God’s promise not to flood the entire earth again, for me, it’s also a reminder that our God is a God of covenant and will never break His word.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
So shall My Word be that goeth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
ISAIAH CH. 55:10-11
What are these verses saying here? That just as the rain can’t fall, reach our heads and say ‘Nah. I changed my mind’ and go back up, so the Word of God once given cannot go back. Whatever He has said He will do! The Word that God has spoken will accomplish what He said for it to do.
Enjoy the new shoots, the blossom, the growth as we step into spring and remember the covenant God has made with us – He is with us always, even to the very end.
Love and blessings
